Children's Consignment Sale

My friend C and I went to check out a local Children's Consignment Sale this morning that happens 2 times per year. I have a friend that does practically all of her girls clothes shopping at consignment sales so I was really excited to check it out! C and I were able to start our shopping early with the "first time moms" group, doors were opening at 8am but we got the jist that we should be there early, so we showed up at 7am and NO ONE was there!!!! We decided we would go to breakfast and return in an hour and that worked out perfectly :) C and I tackled the toy section first and got some really great stuff and then I moved on to the clothes to see what I could find. I had a strategy...no pink (if possible)and no Carters brand (I already have a lot of Carters stuff) and I think I did pretty good!

This is what I came home with:
Toys- $33

Clothes- $41

Not too shabby! C and I plan to return to the next sale in the fall...with prices like this, you don't feel guilty shopping!!!!

Busy Bees

Harper and I have been busy little bees so far this week...Monday we had her 2 month doctor's appointment, Tuesday we met some new friends at a Stay-at-Home Mommy Group we joined and yesterday we went by my old office and I introduced her to all my old co-workers! Harper has been doing really great as Mommy drags her around all over the place! Today we are taking a break and hanging at home...need a little down time and Mommy has a sore throat, blah!

Here is a cute pic of Harper just because:

Chris and I took Harper to her 2 month appointment today. She is now 8 pounds 15 ounces and she is 22 inches long! And the part I know I was dreading, her vaccination injections...she handled them pretty well considering she was getting stabbed in both her legs, but she let out the most horrible scream we have ever heard...and this scream has continued throughout the day...it just hurts us so much to hear, I never thought about how much it would hurt to hear your child in pain, it's awful! We gave her baby Tylenol for the pain and will continue to give it to her, hopefully that will help. She has been sleeping a lot...and this afternoon she slept on Mommy's chest for over 2 hours, it felt good to have her close to me and I like to think it helped soothe her too :) Our little angel is currently sleeping away and I hope the worst is over now....ahhh, being a parent!

Dear Jack:

You were our first baby and we will always love you...so stop giving me the "sad eyes" all the time, your sister Harper requires a lot of attention!

My Birthday

Today was my Birthday...and it honestly felt like any other day, but I couldn't help but think about how wonderful my life is right now...I have a beautiful baby girl that I get to stay home with, I have a husband that I am completely in love with, I have the best friends a girl could ask for and I could go on and on...I have a perfect life right now!
Harper and I met Daddy at a sushi place by his office for lunch today and we went to see Aunt Tash at work...then I came home and made Indian food for dinner, very yummy!

My hubby got me these, I love flowers and particularly like these colors, good job babe!

My sis gave me this necklace for my Birthday, "H" for Harper and her birthstone (garnet), I love this!

What a great day!

Look at me!

I am a big girl now...no car seat insert and I also have a fun new toy to stare at!

Weekend Stuff

This weekend was relatively uneventful except for few things. The first, we have officially made the next step and moved Harper to her crib at night. Up until recently Harper naps during the day in her crib but she has been sleeping next to me in her pack 'n play at night. Over the last week she has been getting up twice a night (up from one time per night) so I was thinking it might be time to test out the crib, so we did and it went well... still don't know how I feel about my baby girl being so far away from me at night but here's to hoping that she continues to enjoy her new digs at night ;)
On Saturday evening the fam ventured out to our friend K's housewarming party. It was great to finally see her new home, it is just gorgeous, she has done such a good job fixing it all up. Harper slept in her car seat tucked away in a bedroom most of the night, but the real fun happened when I was feeding her. While I was feeding her her bottle she had a real big poop but I didn't think much of it...when I moved her to burp her I noticed a wet substance on my shirt and jeans...yep, major blow out, poop shot up and out of her diaper and onto Mommy! What was even more amazing was that the poop didn't get on any of her clothing, I still don't even know how that is possible. So I had a change of clothes for her, but Mommy didn't have a change of clothes. We decided it was time to leave, I wasn't going to be making any friends with my new accessory ;) It was nice to see all of our friends though and spend some time with them, always appreciate any time we can spend with my awesome friends.

The Swing

So I wasn't sure if Harper would ever like her swing...I first introduced her to it the first couple of weeks after we got home from the hospital and she wasn't having it...she would scream when I put her in it so I decided to abort mission swing and try again later. Today was that day...this time there were no cries at all, but she did have this look on her face the entire time she was in it, like she wasn't quite sure what was going on. But she was content for at least 30 minutes. I expected her to fall asleep but she didn't. I hope she continues to like the swing...anything that gives Mommy some free time is much appreciated!

Looking forward to K's Housewarming Party tomorrow...she has done so much work on the house, can't wait to finally see it!

Mediterranean Shrimp Wraps

Wanted to share a recipe with you that is easy, healthy and yummy!

Mediterranean Shrimp Wraps

Ingredients:

Basil Pesto

Tortilla Wraps

Baby Spinach Leaves

Raw Shrimp

14 oz can of artichoke hearts, drained & chopped

Diced sun-dried tomatoes

Pine Nuts

Red Pepper Flakes

As you will see, I don't include measurements on some of these items, I usually just adjust a recipe "to taste"...so include the quantity that works for you.

I like to cook the shrimp in some of the basil and a little bit of olive oil to make it like a sauce to lightly coat everything. Throw in the pine nuts, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes and red pepper flakes and cook at a medium to med-high temp. The only thing you are cooking is the shrimp which won't take long at all. After the shrimp is cooked I let all the ingredients sit for a bit, with the heat off, so the flavors can marry. I serve the shrimp mixture at room temperature. Take a wrap and spread basil pesto on it, top with spinach and shrimp mixture- enjoy!!!
